Fusebox 2011 kicks off with the launch of our Free Range Music Series, presenting unique offerings in non-traditional spaces. This year we identified a handful of sites around Austin that have interesting acoustical properties and commissioned composers to write suites of music specifically for these sites.
The music for the kick-off event has been specially arranged for Seaholm by Mother Falcon --its large, concrete walls providing a dynamic acoustical backdrop for Mother Falcon's lush orchestral arrangements. The band will be accompanied by 100 string players, creating a vastly different experience than your typical bar, club, or even outdoor concert. The concert will be followed by an opening night party with video installations, food, beverages, and other surprises.
Mother Falcon can be best described as a small symphony that fuses classical and modern sounds to create fresh chamber pop. Featuring soaring vocal harmonies over a union of strings, brass, and percussion, Mother Falcon continues to lead the way in Austin’s fresh crop of young composers and bands.
Hailed as the "Best Local Show" and "Best New Local Act" by the Austin Chronicle's 2009 Reader's Poll
