Since Greek Council has been disbanded, the Greek community will now be represented in Student Government by a Greek Senator, as opposed to the Greek Council President.
I have been Greek since fall quarter of my freshman year (2008) and am a part of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. I have held numerous leadership positions within my house such as Philanthropy Chair (for Mudtug), Fraternity Education Chair, a member of the Judicial and Slating Committee, and on Executive Council as Vice President of New Member Coordination.
Since becoming Greek, I have been looking for a way to get more involved with the Greek community, not just holding positions within my house. When I heard about the Greek Senator position I thought it was the perfect fit for someone as outspoken and outgoing as I am.
Those who are not a part of Greek Life generally have a difficult time understanding it, or why we are here on campus; but being very passionate about being Greek, I know that I could well represent the Greek Community on this campus and make sure our voice is heard. I want to fix this issue and help those who are not Greek understand that we are not a cookie cutter image of the Greek stereotypes that they are familiar with.
