ALL INFORMATION CURRENTLY POSTED IS TO BE CONSIDERED FINAL. THE FOOD FIGHT WILL BE SUNDAY APRIL 10 AT 2:00pm AT ZILKER PARK. We are asking that everyone meet up by the rock stage and volleyball courts. Please everyone bring chocolate cake or cupcakes or spaghetti to contribute to the food fight. We also ask that ALL those participating please bring 1 non-perishable canned food item so we can make a donation to the Capital Area Food Bank. Those willing/able to clean up please bring shovels, rakes, trash bags or any other items that might help clean up our mess. Come out in force to show this wonderful girl and her family love and how much we are all INSPIRED by her COURAGE and STRENGTH!
For those of you who were not at the dinner after the YPC Member Mixer, I will give you some background info.
After the YPC Member Mixer at Malverde, 13 of us decided we were going to eat at La Taverna, (after La Condesa was unable to accommodate our large group with a table, right below Malverde) and happened to meet an AMAZING 9 year old girl, Madeleine. We quickly learned from her family that Madeleine is battling stage IV Glioblastoma.
Madeleine's doctors gave Madeleine 9 months to live. It has been more than 9 months and Madeleine is still FIGHTING, enriching the lives of all who meet her with her infectious laugh and precious smile.
We spoke extensively with her and her family, quickly becoming inspired by her COURAGE and STRENGTH as we learned more of her story.
While speaking with Madeleine and her family, we learned of her wonderful gift of meeting Justin Bieber and attending one of his concerts as a special guest. As we spoke with her, she informed us of the one thing she really wants more than any gift. A food fight. So, YPC Members and all those planning to attend, WE ARE GOING TO GIVE HER THE BEST SURPRISE FOOD FIGHT EVER!!!
We are speaking extensively with her family to try to arrange the proper details (place, time, etc.) that would be most suitable for them, but hope to be able to throw her food fight next weekend (4/9) and will be sure to keep all members updated with the event information to maximize attendance, so this girl knows how much of an INSPIRATION and a HERO she is to all of us.
Meanwhile, we encourage all members to visit WWW.MADELEINESGIFT.ORG to learn more of her story and/or make donations toward her fight against cancer.
