Do you know someone who is LGBTQ-identified? Are you yourself LGBTQ-identified? Just passionate about LGBTQ issues?
From "Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)" website: Friday, April 15, 2011 is GLSEN’s National Day of Silence, when hundreds of thousands of students across the country will take a vow of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools.*
Come together with your fellow Stanford queer and allied students to bring an end to the bullying and harassment by taking your vow next Friday. At the LGBT Community Resource Center (map:
http://campus-map.stanford.edu/index.cfm?ID=02-620), we have all sorts of fun items to help you take your vow in style, including stickers, wristbands, and buttons. Soon, you will able to get your hands on some custom shirts designed by our very own Ana Guerra!
***We have some great events planned:***
1. Silent Lunch: Old Union Courtyard, 12-1pm
Come collect goodies, show your support and share why you are silent. Opportunities for an NDOS portrait as well.
2. Terra Happy Hour, Breaking the Silence: Terra House, 5-6:30pm
Break the silence with your fellow queer and allied community members!
3. QSpot, LGBT-CRC 8:30pm-11pm
Kick off your night with some light refreshments, music and mingling at the Fire Truck House!
Please spread the word and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!
Brought to you by Stanford University's Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA), Queer Awareness Days (QuAD) and other on-campus queer volunteer service organizations to be determined soon.
