Some have declared that May 21st is Judgment Day, the destruction of the world as we know it. They say that wrath is upon us and unless we think, believe, and behave exactly as they do that we are under condemnation. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, declare May 21st to be NON-JUDGMENT Day. We say that universal joy and acceptance is upon us. No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey you are loved and worth loving just the way you are.
Gay. Straight. Queer. Lesbian. Fag. Dyke. Tranny. Slut. Whore. Fat. Skinny. Christian. Fundie. Atheist. Conservative. Liberal. Black. White. Brown. No matter what your label, no matter if you embrace it or reject it, ALL ARE WELCOME HERE.
On May 21st, do something to celebrate who you are. Reach out to someone who is being labeled and judged. Extend a hand. Build a bridge. Have fun. but most of all, be yourself!
If you’re in Portland, Oregon join the Portland Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for a night of judgment-free fun. The Fat Out Fashion show at Crush will be all about body acceptance, and owning your own beauty. And then follow us to Candy Shop at Red Cap to shake your groove thing. If you are in other cities, look up your local Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and find something to do. Get out there and celebrate yourself!
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is a leading-edge Order of queer nuns. Since our first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted ourselves to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment. We believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty and we use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit.
