About RENAISSANCE SF
Once upon a time … the Medici family of Florence inspired and fostered an unparalleled environment where art and humanism flourished ... the Italian Renaissance. Today, Silicon Valley is endowed with many of the top technology companies run by our Medici families, who are interested in supporting and investing in the emerging digital Michelangelos, Da Vincis and Botticellis who live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Renaissance SF is our initiative to trigger a cultural renaissance that will spawn entirely new industries in digital media production and distribution by tapping the incredible entrepreneurial spirit of our talented artists. Our vision is to break down the barriers between the various arts and media fields -- film, TV, fashion, dance, theater, music, gaming, animation, education, literature, painting, sculpture, ecology, design and social media --- to build an inspiring, multi-disciplinary creative community that encourages and fosters world-class collaboration, with the goal of creating and attracting financially sustainable jobs.
Our inspiration is the SF Multimedia Development Group, which successfully promoted the South of Market (SOMA) as a multimedia hub in the early 1990s.
To spark this new creative initiative, we will host a series of salon gatherings that bring together upcoming, indie and influential artists alike ... creating momentum for this artistic transmedia movement.
