SUMMARY:Wine Hour with Caymus Vineyards
DESCRIPTION:For five generations\, the Wagner family has lived and loved the
Napa Valley. Since the 1800s they have grown to understand there
is simply no substitute for an intimate knowledge of the land
that only comes by &quot\;living&quot\; in the vineyard. \n
 \n
in 1972\, Caymus Vineyards was founded by Charles (Charlie) F.
Wagner\, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner and their son Chuck Wagner\, on
the family&#039\;s Rutherford property. Caymus has made Napa
Valley Cabernet Sauvignon every year since its founding and their
Special Selection is the only wine to be rated &quot\;Wine of the
Year&quot\; twice by Wine Spectator. Charlie Wagner as a
winemaker was never afraid to break the rules a little bit and
was often found blending his favorite wines at the dinner table.
His spirit for adventure and discovery is what inspired
&quot\;Conundrum&quot\; a white wine blend of five beautiful
 varietals. \n
 \n
Chuck Wagner continues to direct all viticulture and winemaking
at Caymus and is very proud to have his children following in his
footsteps. His son\, Charlie Wagner II\, is farming and making
wines in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County under the
label &quot\;Mer Soleil.&quot\; He makes a barrel fermented
Chardonnay and an unoaked Chardonnay called &quot\;Mer Soleil
Silver&quot\; that is fermented in stainless steel and cement
tanks. His son\, Joseph Wagner\, is making Pinot Noir under the
 labels &quot\;Belle Glos&quot\; and &quot\;MEIOMI.&quot\; His
Belle Glos single vineyard Pinot Noirs are farmed from three
different appellations: Sonoma Coast\, Santa Lucia Highlands of
Monterey County\, and Santa Maria Valley of Santa Barbara County.
His &quot\;MEIOMI&quot\; Pinot Noir is a rich\, dark supple
blend of these three counties. \n
 \n
Farming the land with their own hands has given the Wagners
insights into California winemaking that can&#039\;t be found in
any farming manual. We invite you to learn about their wine and
get a little taste of the Wagner Family heritage. These labels
(Caymus\, Conundrum\, Mer Soleil and Belle Glos) are a family
legacy of love and a promise for quality and consistency year
 after year.\n
