TONS OF LAGUNITAS BREW all to benefit the DC chapter of 826, Dave Eggers' non-profit focusing on writing skills for the youth (you know, the group who brought in James Franco for you to swoon over last month!)
It’s been one year since the launch of the Monument Music and Arts Festival, and like any well-behaved toddler, we think a birthday party is in order. Thanks in no small part to your support, we have raised nearly $15,000 for local charities over the past 12 months. We would love to celebrate this milestone with you on Thursday, June 2nd, at the DC9 nightclub, and raise some money for nonprofit 826DC while we’re at it.
That’s right, we’re taking over DC9, and boy do we have some fun in store. Guards, an offshoot of white-hot buzz band Cults, will headline the night, dishing out what Pitchfork describes as “tooth-ache sweet, common cold catchy, parallel universe pop.” Brooklyn foursome - and recent New York Times’ Critics Choice – Xylos will also be gracing us with its chic presence and lush electropop. Monument's own Brandon Minow will open things up with a solo set.
And as an added bonus, we’ll also have delicious beer on the cheap from our generous buds at Lagunitas Brewing (with a portion of each brew sale going to charity).
Tickets are available now and hey’re only $15, and all proceeds on the night will go to 826DC.

An affiliate of acclaimed author Dave Eggers’ 826 National, 826DC supports students with their creative and expository writing skills, and encourages teachers to inspire them to write. Its services are structured around an understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.
As usual, we’ll be unveiling more surprises as we get closer to the event, but grab a ticket now and plan on joining us to celebrate on June 2nd.
