Forming part of the a nod to Cage programme, world-class comedian Stewart Lee will perform John Cage's Indeterminacy, a group of 90 short stories, each lasting one minute each.

Writer, performer and comedian Stewart Lee is perhaps best known for his work with sketch and stand-up comedy, and for co-writing and directing the acclaimed stage show 'Jerry Springer - The Opera'.

A Cage enthusiast and lover of experimental music, Lee will perform John Cage's text and sound piece accompanied by contemporary pianists Tania Chen and Steve Beresford. Originally recorded in 1959 with David Tudor accompanying Cage on the piano, Chen and Beresford will assume the role of Tudor producing random and unrelated events on the piano (and other things).

This is a performance that will disorientate and transfix its audience. Beresford addresses its strange effect well: 'There's no word for it, which is why its worth doing.'
