Hastings President and Chief Executive Officer of OncoMed PharmaceuticalsMr. Hastings brings more than 20 years of experience as a biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry executive. He has served as President and CEO of OncoMed Pharmaceuticals since January 2006. Prior to joining OncoMed, Mr. Hastings was President and Chief Executive Officer of QLT, Inc. Previous to that, Mr. Hastings served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Axys Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Celera Corporation in 2001. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Hastings served as the President of Chiron BioPharmaceuticals, a division of Chiron Corporation. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of LXR Biotechnology. Mr. Hastings also held a series of management positions of increasing responsibility at Genzyme Corporation, including serving as President of Genzyme Therapeutics Europe as well as President of Worldwide Therapeutics. Mr. Hastings also served as Vice President, Marketing and Sales and General Manager, Europe for Synergen, Inc., and previously held a series of marketing and sales management positions with Hoffmann-La Roche. Mr Hastings was recently Chairman of the Board of Proteolix (sold to Onyx Pharmaceuticals in 2009), and served on the boards of ViaCell (sold to Perkin-Elmer in 2008), and Cerimon Pharmaceuticals. He is currently Chairman of the Board of the Bay Area Biosciences Association (Bay Bio) and serves on the executive committee of the board of directors of the Biotechnology Industry Association. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island. Martin Babler President and Chief Executive Officer of Talima Therapeutics Martin Babler is President and Chief Executive Officer of Talima Therapeutics, Inc, a position he has held since December of 2007. From 1998 to 2006 he worked at Genentech where he served as Vice President of Immunology Sales and Marketing, Senior Director of Commercial Development and Director of Cardiovascular Marketing. Prior to joining Genentech, Mr. Babler held various roles of increasing responsibility in sales, sales management, marketing and business development with Eli Lilly and Company. Mr. Babler is a faculty member of the BioExec Institute, a BioPharma Executive Education series at the Haas School of Business and he is a director of Infinity Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Babler holds a degree in Pharmacy from the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland and has attended the Executive Development Program at Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Annette Bianchi Founder, President & CEO PhyloTech, Microbiome Analysis for Human and Environmental Health. Thane Kreiner, Ph.D., is currently Executive Director of the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University. Thane is also Founder, President and CEO of PhyloTech, Inc., which conducts comprehensive microbial community analysis for environmental and human health applications. He was Founder, President and CEO of Presage Biosciences, Inc., a Seattle-based company dedicated to bringing better cancer drugs to market. Thane was also the start-up President & CEO for iZumi Bio, Inc. (now iPierian), a regenerative medicine venture based on the break-through iPSc (induced pluripotent stem cell) technology. Prior to his efforts as a “parallel entrepreneur”, Thane spent 14 years in various senior leadership roles at Affymetrix, Inc., which pioneered the DNA chip industry. Thane earned his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business; his PhD in Neurosciences from Stanford University School of Medicine; and his BS in Chemistry from the University of Texas, Austin CAROL NAST, Founder and President, Enterprise Catalyst Group Carol is founder and President of Enterprise Catalyst Group (ECG), Inc, a consultancy focused on development and commercialization of medical and life science products. The company has been supporting both large multi-national and small emerging technology companies for twelve years. Carol has over 20 years of executive management experience and prior to founding ECG, was Chief Operating Officer of NuGen Technologies, Vice President of Device Manufacturing at Inhale Therapeutics (Nektar) and held Director level positions at Syva Diagnositcs, Biorad Laboratories and Pfizer. Carol is a graduate of TCU and holds both BS and MS in biochemistry. She completed the Executive Management Program at Stanford University and has pursued post graduate studies at Harvard.
