The Open Data movement has emerged as one of the most exiting developments on the Internet. According to a study by MEPSIR “Overall market size for public sector or 'Open Data' information in the European Union ranges from €10 to €48 billion.

Several countries (USA, Canada, UK, France ...) have decided to open up access to their public data. Likewise, many European regions (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Catalunya, Piemonte, Kent ....) and cities (Paris, London, Munich, Vienna ...) have launched their own initiatives. And the European Commission, World Bank, the OECD and other multilateral organisations have launched their own initiatives.

Organised in conjuction with this years' Lift Conference, the Open Data Garage will bring together the representatives of pioneering open data initiatives at city, region, national and international levels for a day of brainstorming, roundtables conference presentations and workshops.
