A project of Luna, nutrition bars for women, this is a mini festival of films by, for, about women, and RW is once again a local producer of this national event (our 10th!). The films are award-winners, always excellent. Proceeds from the event will be split between RW and the Breast Cancer Fund.
Since 1999 Reel Women has sponsored/presented a LunaFest dedicated to the works of established and emerging and international women filmmakers.
LUNAFEST is a project of Clif Bar / Luna Bar; net proceeds go to The Breast Cancer Research Fund. LUNAFEST is a traveling film festival – by, for, about women – dedicated to building community, through the power of film and through the power of story. LUNAFEST screens in over 150 cities across the U.S. and Canada and screens in front of 20,000 people – promoting women filmmakers, raising awareness for women’s issues and supporting nonprofits.

When you meet Cherie Mathews, you know you've met someone special. She's one of those people everyone just wants to be around. Cherie is an energetic, dynamic, fearless, amazing, warm, funny, REAL and passionate women in Austin. She's dynamic, positive and full of life, but all of that pales in comparison to her enthusiasm as she shares the passion she has and her mission to help woman fighting cancer. Most people would be happy to have survived breast cancer, but Cherie took her experience and used it to help others. Spend a couple of minutes with Cherie, and you'll wonder how you can help her. Her mission with Heal in Comfort is a natural and direct extension of her own personal experience with breast cancer and her genuine gift of wanting to help others and empower women in their daily lives. Cherie was awarded the Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year award from Austin Women Magazine.

Genae Girad was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36. She wanted to find out more so, she headed to the book store to find out everything possible about the disease. What she didn't see was a voice of humor, irony and conviction. A book that says," I have cancer, but cancer is not me." She has written a book "Off the Rack" that chronicles a thirty something's, single, breast cancer survivor. Genae has also created a website "Beyond the Boobie Trap" where breast cancer survivors, caregivers, and family can go to work beyond treatment into a new way of "Normal Living". Genae's, whose story appeared April 4, 2010 on an edition of"60 minutes," talks about her beliefs in women's rights. Visit her website at
