Come out and see some previous winning and favorite films and talk to filmmakers who’ve done really well in the competitions and maybe some who ran into some problems! Veteran Team Captain CHARLEY DEVANY, winning Team Captain from last year, RAKEDA LASHAE, and judge from last year, AGNES VARNUM, as well as some former participants, will join the DIALOGUE to offer insight, tips and suggestions about planning and strategies, as well as how to plan for crises and unforeseen challenges, for the big weekend of filmmaking.
If you don’t know, The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week. If you still aren’t sure if you will participate, this meeting is a great way to get an idea of what it’s all about and hear, first hand, if it’s worth it.
FREE!
OPEN TO EVERYONE (yes, that means MALES too!)
COME EARLY AT 6:30 FOR NETWORKING!
The 48 Hour Film Project comes to Austin on the weekend of June 24th. Filmmakers from all over the Austin area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world.
