I think most of us, the 2nd generation Taiwanese Americans, will agree: We love our parents and families for all they have sacrificed in their lives to give us a better future. Whether they walked 10 miles to school barefoot, or studied 23 hours per day even by candlelight, or came to America with $50 in their name... their stories continue to amuse us and drive us. Hopefully, they also make us realize the privileges we have today.
This is an ongoing photo project for them, for us, for our history.
I invite you to add some of your old photos from your parents' photo albums. I'm looking for family photos or pictures of life during their childhood to young adult years - anything that captures the period well. People. Places. Things. Events.
I know some of you have them scanned in on your computer or photographed/stored in your own albums. Please add your photos below, and perhaps add a story of the era (1950's-1980's). Or remain as anonymous as you'd like. You may want to create an album in your own Photos section first, upload the photo there, then select it to be added to this event page album.
Help me honor your parents and mine in this photo documentary project by TaiwaneseAmerican.org.
We may use your photos for future slideshows about Taiwanese America or publish them on the TaiwaneseAmerican.org website at some point in the future.
