SUMMARY:Disability Awareness Night 2011
DESCRIPTION:Disability Awareness Night will be an opportunity for ALL persons
with disabilities\, their families\, care providers\, and the
community at large to enjoy a FREE baseball game while becoming
informed on resources available for persons with disabilities.
Local service providers will be distributing FREE tickets to
the game!     Currently\, the Disability Awareness Night
committee is working to offset the costs of parking\, but
please note that there is a parking fee of $9 for each
car.  We will be sending out emails informing you of the
parking situation\, and our progress towards reducing or finding
a way to cover parking costs.     Unfortunately\, all
Wheelchair Accommodation tickets are sold out.  However\, sign
up for the waiting list\, and if someone that has registered for
a Wheelchair Accommodation ticket is unable to attend or if the
DAN committee is able to secure more Wheelchair Accommodation
tickets\, then you will be the first to know.  The waiting list
is first-come\, first-serve.  We have also made Wheelchair to
General Seating tickets available: individuals that can transfer
from their wheelchairs to general seating are encouraged to
register for this ticket.  Due to limited space\, only one
individual that is not in a wheelchair may sit with an
individual in a wheelchair in the wheelchair section.  If an
individual in a wheelchair desires to sit with two or more
people\, he/she may do so by transferring from his/her
wheelchair to general seating\; register for a Wheelchair
Transferable ticket if you plan to do this.  Please note that
most of the seats at the stadium do not have backs.  If you plan
to sign up for a Wheelchair to General Seating ticket\, be sure
 to bring a &quot\;stadium chair&quot\;\, also known as a
&quot\;travel chair&quot\;.   During the game\, the EP Maxwell
 J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award will be presented to
some very deserving individuals/organization who serve the
disability community.  Do you know of
an individual/organization that deserves this award?  Let us
 know by filling out a
 nomination at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DAN-Nominee
The presentation of the EP Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished
Service Award (named after the founder and former editor-in-chief
of Exceptional Parent Magazine) at each Disability Awareness
Night signifies the remarkable accomplishments that can be
achieved under difficult circumstances.    The Mission of the
Disability Awareness Night is to recognize an
 individual/organization for extraordinary achievements\,
perseverance and dedication to the special needs community AND to
expand awareness of the 54 million Americans with disabilities.
We hope to see you there!\n
