NOTE - DUE TO HUGE RESPONSE - WE ASK ALL TO HELP ENSURE SUCCESS BY DOING THE FOLLOWING - Sound system, volunteers and officials will be present to help ensure event is orderly.
(1) All attendants are asked to obey local laws, stay on sidewalks, and not interfere with traffic.
(2) Please consider taking mass transit - there is limited parking.
(3) While we love your pet - please don't bring to the event (unless they are a guide dog), we need to keep the sidewalks as easy to navigate as possible.
If you’re interested in volunteering to ensure the success of this event – please send an e-mail to handsacrosshawthorne@gmail.com with your first and last name, along with cell phone.
Volunteers will be provided a color flag and vest to ensure they are quite visible and would need to be able to help set boundaries, enforce rules and keep folks safe. This could be a physically demanding role – so please make sure you’re up to it before volunteering. Volunteers need to be available to be down at the event from 6pm till 9pm.
Please do not show up to volunteer unless you’ve received a confirmation e-mail or call. The first 50 to respond will be enlisted and we will begin that coordination process on Saturday at 1pm.
Please respond as soon as possible.

Cascade AIDS Project, Basic Rights Oregon, Q Center, Pride NW, and HRC are coming together to host a peaceful event to show solidarity with those who were attacked last Sunday for holding hands while crossing the Hawthorne Bridge. Here's a recap of the horrific assault here:

Another lengthy, detailed recap here:

Let's show everyone we stand together in solidarity, unity, support, and love.
We will meet up at 7:30pm and then create a chain across the Hawthorne Bridge.
**In the meantime, please email your own photos of you holding someone else's hand to-- edominguez@cascadeaids.org -- so we can add your photo to the album "holding hands, in solidarity"**
