AIDE is launching our first photo essay contest!
We're inviting all AIDE participants to submit entries that describe their experiences abroad. Tell us about the moments that changed your life, took your breath away, or simply had you doubled over in laughter.
Entries must be the original work of the participant and should include:
- Details about your program, host organization, and what you got out of your experience
- Descriptions of your daily life abroad and photos of your interactions with the people and culture
- How your experience abroad changed your life
- Up to 5 winners will be featured in our monthly newsletter and 1 lucky winner will receive a prize of $100!
Submission Guidelines:
- A defined theme that characterizes your program, organization, and general experience abroad
- 500 - 750 word essay (.doc or .txt file)
- 5 - 10 high-res photos (300 dpi JPEG images) in the order they appear in the essay and labeled accordingly (may be embedded with essay text, but must also be submitted as individual files)
- Text should correspond to each photo, and be clearly identified to which photo it belongs
- Must be submitted before JANUARY 31st!
How to Submit
Submission Deadline: Entries should be submitted by January 31, 2010. The winners will be announced in early March 2010.

All submissions will become the sole property of the Association for International Development and Exchange (“AIDE”) and may be used in the organization's future publicity materials in perpetuity. All entrants grant AIDE the right to use their names, photos, and essays in any materials without further compensation or permission. Participants warrant that their entry is their original work and that AIDE's use of the entry will not infringe upon or violate the rights of any third party, and grant AIDE the right to edit, publish, and otherwise use their entry materials without permission, notice or compensation. Participants further warrant that all or any persons who are depicted in photos have provided written permission to use their likenesses to AIDE for the purposes stated herein. By entering, entrants agree to abide by the above stated rules.
