UKECharisma is the project you're looking for, Malaysia is where you want to be going, accommodation and food is FREE, and we've got lots of expert spport to give you and your teammates advice and guidance on how to run a successful and sustainable project!
UKECharisma is an organization that provides opportunities for students studying in the UK to lead and volunteer in community service and leadership projects in Malaysia every summer. This opportunity is open to any student studying in the UK, whether Malaysian or non Malaysian, and UKECharisma will not only provide leadership training and project organization training, but also expert advice and sponsorship for accommodation and food for all the volunteers going for the projects. That's right, all you have to pay for is your flight and shopping, as well as fundraise a token amount to demonstrate your commitment to the cause!
We have confirmed that this year's projects are about Education and Health Awareness. They will run for two weeks each starting on the 16th July and the 31st July respectively, and are both set in the state of Selangor as well as the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. More details about what we are doing for each individual project are available on our website (http://ukecharisma.wordpress.com), and we are looking for YOU to help us make it happen! Applications are open for you to volunteer in our projects!
Also, we need two leaders each for both our projects, and there is a question in the application process for you to fill up if you're interested in doing so!
Details on Project 1:
16th July – 29th July, Kuala Lumpur.
Volunteers will be teaching English and encouraging reading and writing in English for primary school students in overpopulated regions of Kuala Lumpur. You will assist the class teacher in teaching students during classtime, and formulate lesson plans or activity plans for students with the teachers’ approval. After school you will provide tuition and interactive workshops for children to attend to increase their interest in the language. You will recruit and have the help of secondary school students who will be your ‘mentees’, and part of your aim is to inspire the older students to set up a sustainable programme to teach the young children, even after your project is over, to ensure sustainability of your work.
We are recruiting 20 volunteers for this project!
