In Celebration of Pit Bull Awareness Day: Texas-Sized Pittie Pride Festival, A World Record Setting Event
Bigger and better than last year, this year we have decided to set a world record for gathering the most pitties in one place!! Like last year, we will be parading up the Congress Avenue Bridge and ending in Republic Square Park for a Pittie Pride Festival. Keep checking back at love-a-bull.org for details and constant updates! You won't want to miss this year's celebration of National Pit Bull Awareness Day!
Announcing our first special guest: John Shipe ~ For those of you who are familiar with John Shipe, you know he has one of the BEST pit bull video viral hits EVER! His song, "The Pit Bull Blues," [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtGT2apOlKw] is quite possibly the best ode to the pit bull in existence.
He recently wrote a new ode, a curious mix of corny humor, old-school country, and deep affection for a "special kind of gal, for the "Pit Bull Rescue Woman," [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGR9bs5oBEs] and those who love them.
Announcing special guest: Holly Marie Combs ~ Actress, producer, writer, and animal welfare advocate. She has starred in the popular TV series “Charmed” and on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars.” Holly and her family have acquired and adopted several animals including dogs, rabbits, horses, cats, birds and other animals who find their way into their home. She strongly believes in the need for pit bull advocacy and education.
Announcing special guests: Tim & Donna of BAD RAP ~ BAD RAP (Bay Area Doglovers Responsible about Pit Bulls) is a non-profit organization of pit bull owners, trainers, educators, rescuers, and supporters.
This group played a significant part taking in and rehabilitating many of the ‘Vick dogs.’ They were interviewed by PBS’ Need to Know for a follow-up story this July The Dogs are (Still) Alright. [http://www.pbs.org/wnet/need-to-know/video/video-the-dogs-are-alright-the-vick-dogs-make-a-comeback/6676/]
Announcing our emcee: Deb O'Keefe ~ She's the English-accented radio DJ on Austin’s the “Morning X” and a big fan of men with moustaches. Deb is also the owner of a pit bull named Blue, but if you ask her it’s the other way around. You can see her and Blue on the recent April/May 2011 cover of Austin Pets Directory and read the interview inside.
This year is going to be very special, so you won't want to miss this event!
