The 5th annual PCT DAYS will be taking place Sept. 2-4, 2011 in Cascade Locks, Oregon. Like last year, it will be a great time for people to check out the latest outdoor products, spend time with new and old friends, visit with thru-hikers, and to celebrate the past, present and future of the Pacific Crest Trail. Set on Thunder Island in the Columbia River Gorge, this is a beautiful location within one mile of the PCT, and the perfect location to spend a late summer weekend for a great cause.
Attendees are welcome to show up to the Marine Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon on Friday, Sept. 2nd after 10 a.m. and stay until 4 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 4th. The majority of the activities this year will take place on Saturday, Sept. 3rd, which include: a work party (PCT maintenance), product demonstrations & displays, a huge product/gear raffle, a screening of a the documentary / film, "Six Million Steps", and a "5th anniversary of PCT DAYS dance party", DJ-ed by event coordinator "Nabor J" (PCT 2005).
No registration is necessary for attending the event. A welcome table will be on site to provide information and collect admission, which is a $20.00 donation, covering the cost of camping and event participation for all 3 days. Those who arrive on Saturday or don't wish to camp on Thunder Island will be asked for a $15.00 donation. Raffle tickets will cost $2.00/each for 1-5 tickets, $1.00/each after 5 tickets have been purchased and all funds will be donated to the PCTA!
For those who don't wish to camp on the event site, there are several options for accommodations in Cascade Locks, which includes several hotels and campgrounds. The event site includes bathrooms with coin-operated showers and the town has a grocery store, pub, restaurants, etc., all within a short walk of the event site. For those who wish to arrive in an RV, you may do so at the Cascade Locks Marine Park Campground for a fee depending on whether you need hook-ups or not. Thunder Island / Marine Park of Cascade Locks is located 42 miles east of Portland and there will be plenty of free parking. More information will be made available here as the event continues to develop.
