Starry Night is an elegant outdoor soirée which reunites artists, activists, politicians, friends and donors of The 519 for an evening of entertainment and intimate connections – an opportunity to take a break before the craziness of Pride weekend begins.
This year, whirling dervishes, belly dancers and derbake drummers will descend on Toronto’s Cawthra Square Park for the 4th annual Starry Night.
The event will feature a Canadian premiere performance by Lebanese trans bellydancer Antonella - the only ‘out’ trans performer in the Arabic world and the first trans person to be granted a government-funded sex re-assignment surgery in Lebanon. Celebrity bartenders include:
Traci Melchor (CTV)
Deb Pearce (Rogers, OUTtv)
Gavin Crawford (CBC)
Adamo Ruggiero (Degrassi)
Maha (OUTtv)
Paul Bellini (fab)
Rolyn Chambers (fab)
Any many more!
Also part of the festivities: Canada’s leading Middle Eastern dance and music Company, Arabesque, and Toronto’s Superstar Sofonda Cox. Technoarabic DJ Sylosurf (Beirut) will spin the beats while Lebanese drag performer Miss Butterfly welcomes guests with sweet Arabic kisses at the door.
In addition to providing a fantastic party, The 519’s events during Pride weekend raise funds for our essential community programs. Last year we raised over $90,000 through Starry night and the Green Space on Church.
The event is free but donations are appreciated and necessary
All proceeds to support The 519 |

Starry Night is presented in partnership with BMO Financial Group and Cineplex Media.
