Among our fellow Austinites, interest in Apache Hive has grown exponentially over the last year. Back in January, we couldn't find someone who would teach the Hive section for Data Day Austin. So we ended up teaching Nutch instead. Six months later, and all matter of hive-related things are going on. Jim Falgout and his team at Pervasive DataRush have been working on a plug-in that apparently makes Hive laser fast. Other projects are in the works as well. Since we're all coming to Santa Clara for the Hadoop Summit, we thought it would be fun to meetup for drinks with our fellow Hive users in the Bay Area, and all those coming to the Summit. We've reserved the upstairs at Lilly Mac's in Sunnyvale. It's a great pub with great food, only a few miles from the Santa Clara Convention Center, and easily accessible by car or Caltrain..
