THE CHAIRS ARE WHERE THE PEOPLE GO is a new book by the author Sheila Heti and her friend Misha Glouberman. Sheila had the idea to write a book of everything Misha knows. As Misha talked, Sheila typed. This is that book.
Sheila is the inventor of Trampoline Hall, and Misha is the host. To promote the book, they are taking Trampoline Hall to five other cities. In Toronto, they are having a book launch party. No big show - just a chance to have drinks, and a very short performance featuring a reading from the book, and an interview by Carl Wilson.
We hope to see you there!!!

** About The Chairs Are Where The People Go
“An odd and satisfying blend of philosophy, self-help and, improbably, charade game theory. Sometimes, in the space of just a few sentences, Misha will change the way I think I thought about subjects as diverse as going to the gym, leadership, and getting drunk… Leaves you feeling uplifted by the power a voice of common sense can still have in the world. The Chairs reads like the wisdom of Benjamin Franklin as told to David Byrne.”
- JONATHAN GOLDSTEIN, contributing editor to This American Life, host of CBC's Wiretap, and author of Lenny Bruce Is Dead
“Hilarious, philosophical, and contagious… An essential summer read"
- This Magazine
"[A] glorious collection of essays... deeply hip and also endearing."
- Los Angeles Times
"[a] beautiful collaboration of wit, wisdom, and wonder... It does for self-help books what Moby Dick did for the novel."
- KEXP Seattle
Selected as one of the summer’s “Best Reads” by Chatelaine, as one of the top five reads of the summer by Paris Review editor Thessaly La Force, and on list of top five books for beach reading by New York Magazine.
