There are a large number of non-profit organizations, educators and schools that are successful at engaging and educating youth. The worlds of advertising, film and media seem far off and distant to many. Even for those with degrees in these fields, that job on Madison Avenue or the next big film can prove extremely elusive. This panel features several people that offer advice and alternatives for entering those worlds. Will Chau, a Creative Director at the ad agency GSD&M, recently started the Austin Creative Department, an ad portfolio school that offers courses at a fraction of the cost of traditional portfolio schools. Dave Holloway, a Creative Director at McGarrah Jessee advertising, has a comprehensive book and DVD called Advertising: How To Get The Job You Want and Succeed In It. These gentlemen, along with others in PR, film and media will lay out an array of paths you can take to break into the world of media, advertising and/or film.
