In honor of National Ice Cream Month this July, the Dairy Farmers of Oregon are again calling on Portland chefs to take on the ultimate summertime culinary challenge: Create an ice cream flavor that best captures the taste of summer in Oregon. A lineup of 6 local chefs will race to crank their homemade ice cream, relay style, creating a flavor. Ice cream prepared by the chefs will be judged by a "celebrity" panel of Portland personalities. There will be two awards, one for time, and the other for overall quality (taste, creativity and presentation).
Ice cream processors and purveyors from Oregon will also be on-site free ice cream available from Umpqua Dairy, Julie’s Organic Ice Cream, and Tillamook.
