This Month we highlight two extremely talented women, Cherry Fernandes with Bramfatura and DJ Saarikah (Moonchild)
Cherry Fernandes feat Bramfatura
Singer/songwriter Cherry Fernandes along with Bram Fatura, one of Bombay's hottest live acts recently launched their video, Only Just (http://goo.gl/C3bwu). With massive airplay on India’s leading English-music channel, VH1 has received great feedback from fans and critics alike.
Bramfatura
Bram Fatura is a collaborative music production duo consisting of Mark Fulgado and Gaurav Godkhindi. Working alongside favoured session musicians and vocalists, they make records and tour live.
Moonchild
Moonchilds journey with music began when the “rock chick” imbibed a lot of the late sixties and early seventies psychedelic sound into her preferences. Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath. The Doors etc., In fact, the seventies rock sounds left a major impression on her. Experimentation, Electronica and trippy, psychedelic vibes are a distinct part of her psyche today.
Constantly reinventing herself, sarikah soon found herself responding to Dance grooves and Indian Classical sounds. The dancer in her soon starting speaking out and it wasn’t long before Sarikah took on her second avatar as a DJ in 1997.
She has also worked as a Producer with the Masti Music Record label. primarily to promote non mainstream music.
Sarikah relates to any form of music that’s new, energizing and uplifting, Rhythm, melody, emotion and strong grooves are what attract her. Ethnic, jazzy house beats, deep soul music and psychedelic, electronic chill out sounds appeal to her a lot.
Having enthralled audience at some of the best venues across india like Bluefrog for the Indian electronica Festival, Zenzi Tres Botas Tapas bar, Opened for Asian Massive guru DJ Chebi Sabbah,Club Rock Bottom where she opened for UK Asian massive artiste Shiva Sound System, Axirvaad groove space temple to name a few..
