Dear Fans and Friends of Proof,
As any artist, designer, or creative will tell you: putting together your Portfolio is a BITCH. It’s supposed to sum up the best of what you’ve done, and is used by the outside world to judge your relevance. The portfolio quickly spawns all kinds of self-inflicted worry. Does it look too dated? Does the work look interesting? What will [insert name of first boyfriend/girlfriend here] think about this if they find it on the internets? Just like its less-creative cousin, the resumé, portfolios are a plastic sugery’d version of reality.
We’re not into it. We think the whole game is a sham.
The format of Proof’s current portfolio is kind of a joke: one part neglect, two parts not giving a shit. We haven’t posted any of our new projects for over 9 months, our work is currently hosted on a lame flickr account, and currently, all the bottles are photographed against BORING white backgrounds. It’s all a stupid mess.
We would like to make a new kind of portfolio:
A portfolio about how we live
A portfolio about what we do
A portfolio that is as real as going to the DMV
A portfolio that contains spills and messes
A portfolio that inspires creativity
A portfolio perfumed in the scent of wine
We can’t make a portfolio like this without real people. And you’re some of the realest people we know.
Imagine... Proof’s entire portfolio made up of pictures taken by our friends (yes, YOU) drinking the wines we’ve designed. We’ll give you bottles and you can take them with you on an adventure, or snuggle up with them at home. So help us. Please. Get a little tipsy, make some funny faces and take lots of pictures of what it’s like to drink wine, make art and have fun in real life.
This is how this thing is going to work:
On Saturday, July 23rd @ 12:00 NOON a bunch of you will come to the Proof office (Downtown San Luis Obispo). You will be greeted with smiling faces, many bottles of wine and more information about your mission. You’ll do whatever you were going to do that day anyway; go on a bike ride, cook a meal, hang out in your backyard. Except, you’ll be doing it with free bottles of wine in your bag. At 8:00 PM that evening, we will reconvene at Josh’s house for the mother of all potlucks: a Chili Cook-Off.

Here’s what you need to bring if you’d like to participate in this crazy day of drinking and picture taking:
-A tolerance for alcohol, specifically wine.
-Ideas of how you want to populate your day of fun and drinking (as long as you’re into it, we’re into it)
-A camera of some sort (it’s totally cool if you want to use the one on your phone, Polaroid, video camera) to capture the evidence of your adventures.
Please RSVP so we can have wine waiting for you.
Questions are welcomed and anticipated.
