WHAT IS BASTILLE DAY?
Just like 4th of July, Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick's Day, one of San Francisco's most popular holiday party celebrations is FRENCH BASTILLE DAY. Bastille Day is France's equivalent to our American Independence Day. It is a historical day commemorating the storming the Bastille (a fortress prison) by revolting French citizens trying to overthrow their corrupt monarchy in 1789, beginning the French Revolution and yielding today's modern republic nation.
