MobiHealth DC will feature a rapid-fire series of presentations and perspectives from five Mobile Health leaders, followed by a panel style Q&A session. This event will emphasize the presentation of case studies and real world examples that highlight innovative use and results associated with Mobile Health projects. Topics and Speakers for our July event will include: MedlinePlus Mobile, Health Information On-the-Go Loren Frant will demonstrate the primary features of MedlinePlus Mobile (m.medlineplus.gov). She'll discuss the National Library of Medicine's decision to create MedlinePlus Mobile as a mobile-optimized Web site instead of as a mobile application. She'll describe the device-specific display of MedlinePlus Mobile and the open source standard that supports it. In addition, Loren will point you to other mobile resources and APIs from the National Library of Medicine. Loren Frant is the Head of the Health Information Products Unit at the NIH National Library of Medicine (NLM). The Health Information Products Unit is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all MedlinePlus-branded products and services. Ms. Frant has been with NLM since her 2004/05 Associate Fellowship. Before joining NLM, Ms. Frant held positions at an information technology consulting company, a museum software company, and visual history archive. Ms. Frant holds a master’s in library and information science from the University of California-Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Cornell University. Following the Impact: An International mHealth Perspective This presentation will include lessons learned from Medic Mobile's projects around the world. Josh Nesbit will discuss research, trends, and where mobile health technology is headed in the future. Josh Nesbit is the CEO of Medic Mobile, a nonprofit company using mobile technology to create connected, coordinated health systems that save more lives. The company works in 13 countries around the world. As an international health and bioethics student at Stanford, his research focused on access to pediatric HIV/AIDS treatment. He is an Echoing Green Fellow, PopTech Social Innovation Fellow, Rainer Arnhold Fellow, Strauss Scholar, and Haas Public Service Fellow. Mr. Nesbit was named by Devex as one of 40 Under 40 Leaders in International Development and received the Truman Award for Innovation from the Society for International Development. Innovations in American Mobile Health: What works and what's next Can reading a simple text message double your chance of recovery after surgery? Could your iphone save your life? How can doctors, patients, and payers use mobile devices to increase care and decrease cost? We'll discuss what is and what could be for mobile devices and the American healthcare system. Doug Naegele is President of Infield Health, a firm that builds mobile technology that brings patients closer to healthy outcomes. Prior to his time with Infield, Mr. Naegele was a drug inventor, healthcare banker, and serial entrepreneur. He holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard and an MBA from GW, but would give it all up to play second base for the Red Sox. From Desktop to Mobile
