Hey friends!
We recently found out that International house has chosen not to renew its contract with the current management at IHouse cafe. This means those friendly, kind people that made the cafe such a warm environment will all be out of jobs.
Many of you found comfort in the cafe, for a quick coffee on the way to class, an alternative to the dining hall, or a place to catch up with friends over drinks. The cafe staff has always been fond of the international students, giving them a great place to go attached right next to the housing. Its also been a place connecting the IHouse community to the rest of the Berkeley population. Hopefully you have all had positive experiences in the cafe, and it made an impact on your time in Berkeley. The staff is very used the wide variety of people that come in and very often we have visitors return to recount some of their favorite memories made right in that cafe.
IF YOU THINK THE CAFE SHOULD STAY AND WOULD LIKE TO HELP, PLEASE EMAIL SHIRLEY SPILLER FROM FINANCIAL SERVICES:

Dear Ms. Spiller
I truly believe that the current IHouse cafe has been integral in creating a positive experience for students and other members of the Berkeley community. It creates a safe environment for studying and meeting friends, and provides valuable services to the outlying community.
Please consider how the familiarity of the staff to the role it plays helps international students adjust to their new surroundings. It also has been a great place for the neighboring students to come and hang out. It is a unique location that has built a strong and vital relationship with the community it has served for years.
I hope you reconsider not renewing their lease,
Sincerely,
