“It takes a Village!!!!!!!!!!”
So once again!!! With the start of the new school year upon us, thousands of youth in the Washington Metropolitan region are abuzz with excitement that precedes the standard ritual of shopping for school supplies and clothing. For just as many youth, the start of the new school year is a sobering reminder of the fact that the family budget is simply too meager to accommodate the purchase of school supplies. Students without school supplies start the school year at a distinct practical and psychological disadvantage. These students are essentially children left behind before the educational starting gate ever opens and lack the basic supplies needed to engage in classroom learning activities. Every student deserves the right to expect that he /she will possess the basic supplies needed to learn at school. Every concerned adult is a stakeholder in the future of our children and can be instrumental in leveling the educational playing field and helping to equip disadvantaged students with basic school supplies. To that end, Donte Davis /New Beginnings Vocational Program,Tyler Elementary and yourself have partnered in soliciting the assistance of our friends and neighbors in the sponsorship of a school supply drive targeting disadvantaged students in the DC Area. With that being said were asking that all interested participants contribute to this important initiative by purchasing school supplies including but not limited to book bags, pens, pencils, individual pencil sharpener, composition books, crayons, rulers, calculators, binders etc. Anything would help!!!!!!!! If we all just purchase one book bag, collectively that would make a huge difference in our community. Interested individuals and organizations should contact Mr. Donte Davis at 202-494-1180 or via email at dontedavis@hotmail.com with any questions. We we need friends to help pack the book bags with the supplies. Feel free to COME JOIN US!!!!! Please forward this evite to as many people as you can!!
Thanks Donte Davis !
Someone will be on the grill!!!!!!
