Today running an arts organization takes more vision and planning than ever. Not only do art leaders have to tend to the typical duties of an administrator, they also have to consider vulnerabilities within their operations. More than ever, funders and stakeholders are concerned with how their investments will be protected—they want to know that the institution will be sustainable even in the worst-case scenario. Plus there seem to be more threats affecting the arts community, from weather events to data security issues to sudden staff losses. Arts organizations must achieve sustainability in this environment, and can do it through readiness planning.
As the protectors and creators of our communities’ cultural assets and creative spirit, our field needs to embrace emergency preparedness. Unfortunately many of us haven’t learned how. Come to this conversation to find out how you can start a plan for your organization, so you can continue or re-launch your operations after a crisis of any type or size. We’ll also share the new ArtsReady online planning tool and resource with you, specifically designed by and for our community.
