Ahoy, Mateys!
Climb aboard the ship setting sail on the last Saturday in July. We will be charting a course from the Boat Basin on 79th street all the way around the southern tip to the South Street Seaport where we'll end at Water Taxi Beach which has sand, Foosball and ping pong!!
This voyage is not for the faint of heart but for those that get seasick I feel like you'll be okay this time around.
More details to come along with itinerary and all stops along the way.
Hope you can make it!! Bring your best sailing attire!
I've already ordered some fun things.
The general schedule of bars(subject to change) is something like this:
2:00 Boat Basin - Get some snacks and drinks(of course)
then a short walk down the river to
3:15 Pier i Cafe - shock the crap out of this nice peaceful cafe as we stroll though and then take cabs to!
4:15 The Frying Pan!! - Get onto our first (definitely not last) boat of the evening. This is a great kickoff for people who can't make it up to the upper west or are running a little late.
Seating can be tough at times but I have a feeling that we'll make due. They also have some food for all of those that are still a bit hungry.
5:15 Brass Monkey - Quick stop on our walk downtown. And it's right next to the water...so, why not!?
6:00 Downtown Galway Hooker - Now although this one is off the beaten path (not on the water) The scene is worth the voyage (even all sailors go into port sometimes).
6:45 Rusty Knot! - This nautically themed bar on the water can't get any better. Make sure to get some picklebacks and Micheladas as you enjoy the view.
7:30 Ear Inn (James Brown House) - One of New York's oldest bar will definitely be requesting our presence. Enjoy!
8:30 PJ Clarke's - Beautiful setting for catching the end of the sunset and enjoying the winter garden in NY
9:30 Fresh Salt - A nautical themed bar at a seaport? Sounds about right!
10:15 Fish Market - No not the old one with fish. They got rid of that. This is a less smelly and not quite as nostalgic location. But hey, it's on the way!
10:45 Water Taxi Beach - How could we have only been at port all this time!? Time to check out the beach! They have games and drinks and snacks and I'd like to challenge anyone that's up to it for a game of ping pong.
The distance might be daunting to some but what voyage has ever been easy?
