CowParade is the largest and most recognized public art event in the world. CowParade exhibits, held in 75 cities in 30 countries on six continents to date, have produced more than 5,000 of the signature cow canvases painted on and transformed by artists in the event venues. The exhibits have been viewed by upwards of one half billion of the global population.
In 2011, CowParade will be held in Austin, Texas. Partnering with the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, CowParade Austin will likely display between 100-150 cow sculptures all around town and perhaps in suburban communities. Local artists will be invited to submit their proposed cow artwork between October 12, 2010 and April 15, 2011. A preview event is planned for July 27 and the cows will be on display throughout the area until early October. The auction gala is scheduled for October 30, 2011.
