Whether or not you're directly involved in leadership or HR, there are things you can do to help develop your own leadership and the leadership of those around you. Defining Moments We all experience "defining moments" that shape our careers and our influence. Many times we make difficult decisions or face ethical dilemmas. On these occassions, we can begin to fathom some of the potential impact of the decisions we make. Other times seeming minor choices have a major impact in our direction and impact as leaders. How do you face these defining moments? How can we focus in these situations. How can we help others face these situations? What can we do to focus on what's most important and make the best of our circumstances and situation? Format: Open Panel Discussion. Panelists: Kristin Dickerson, Shane Fernandez, Bill Handy, and Denise Reid Kristin Dickerson: Kristin Dickerson is the evening anchor at News Channel 8. She recently earned the position after spending nearly seven years on the morning shows: Good Morning Oklahoma and Good Day Tulsa. She volunteers as a board member for The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges and is also a Leadership Tulsa graduate. Shane Fernandez:Shane leads a regional Architectural and Engineering firm as the Executive Vice President and the Corporate Director of Integrated Architecture of Crafton Tull. Shane is extremely passionate about the community and sits on The Tulsa Metro Chamber Executive Committee and Board of Directors along with several other boards and organizations. His volunteer efforts focus on inspiring youth and he has donated many hours towards efforts with Youth at Heart, Youth Services of Tulsa, Street School, and Youth Leadership Tulsa. Bill Handy:Bill Co-Owns H3 Strategic Communications with his business partner and wife. He helps organizations achieve their objectives by leveraging new communication platforms and some old fashioned ones too. His passion is moving the conversation from "we want a Facebook page" to "How are we going to make a difference." Denise Reid:Denise Reid is the Director of Talent Strategies with the Tulsa Metro Chamber and possesses 15+ years of experience in recruiting and workforce development. Denise is a member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), CEOs for Cities, Northeastern Oklahoma Higher Ed Forum and Tulsa Diversity Network and serves on several boards to include Tulsa Area Human Resource Association, Leadership Tulsa, Sustainable Tulsa and Workforce Tulsa. She was also named one of Tulsa Business Journal’s Women of Distinction in 2010. There will also be time for open discussion and networking.
