Trey Ratcliff
This will be a fun event. All levels of photographers are welcome! This was originally going to be at the Googleplex after my talk, but we moved it here so everyone can come. I look forward to meeting you there!

Stanford - Exact meeting spot - The Knight Meeting Garage as seen on this route at http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?authuser=1&ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=212208... [read more]

As an attendee - I will follow up and say - very cool photowalk... As for the policy issue we were granted special dispensation for that day - Stanford was cool to let us all be there.... @perry - this walk had several teachers, mentors, whatever you wish to call them and you could wander off on your own also...

i second the question below. also, how on time are these things usually? i'm sure 240 people won't all be there on time.

Stupid question of the day - I've never done a photo walk, how does it work? Is it worth going with a group this size? Seems like a lot of people for one guy in an open setting

In February 2011 they tightened their policies about photography on campus. Here is the link to the Stanford Daily article on it http://www.stanforddaily.com/2011/02/17/university-increases-enforcement-of-campus-photography-policy/

That's excellent news, Allison! Thank you for letting us know!

Stanford's Office of Public Affairs sent out emails letting each area of campus on the walk know about it and ask that photographers be allowed to shoot for this sanctioned event. No one should be bothered for having a tripod tonight, even in the Rodin sculpture garden.

I was hoping you'd say that, Trey. I'll risk it. BTW, does Stanford have any idea that 200+ photographers are about to descent upon their campus?

Trey- I am driving over from bishop today through Yosemite to be on this photo walk. Wouldn't miss it. Tripod in hand

    You know I'm bringing a tripod. :)

Is there any point in bringing a tripod, considering Stanford's over-zealous policing of "commercial" photographers?
