After years of belly-aching about how Downtown Crossing deserved more than a couple of great bars, it seems we're finally making progress. Elder statesbars Silvertone and Marliave now have some company with Woodward, Stoddards, and Scholars...plus an even newer neighbor: 49 Social. 49 Social opened its doors earlier this summer after taking over the old Ivy space. The bar on the first floor would be a bit small for our group, so we're going to take over the downstairs bar. You'll see the stairs down as soon as you walk in the door.

Bring some friends or come alone. Cash bar.
If you've never heard of our group before, here's the story: Opus Affair is a mix of artists and art appreciators who get together each month for cocktails and to chat about the arts scene in Boston...or whatever else comes to mind. Some people come for serious networking, others come for fun. There's no program -- just a chance to have a few drinks with other young professionals interested in the fine arts.
