Come out and see the amazing lineup for the SFIF 2011 Opening Night. The hilarious & maniacal PianoFight hosts a night featuring some of the best the Bay Area improv world has to offer, including BATS Improv, Crisis Hopkins, and The Super Dupers!

Local sketch comedy powerhouse PianoFight brings their twisted and brilliant minds to the SF Improv Festival once again to host the festival's opening night as well as perform some of the material that has made them a sketch pillar in the SF comedy scene.

Through a genuine commitment to character and developing story, BATS Improv has earned an international reputation for creating theatre that is both hilarious and compelling. Starting with a title from the audience, BATS' players create a sustained, single-story narrative, often running the same length as a scripted play. Warp Speed, which they will perform at this show, is a salute to the classic Star Trek series. Instead of Kirk and Spock, all new characters, inspired by audience suggestions, are created and introduced on the spot. Prepare to boldly go where no story has gone before!

Crisis Hopkins has performed improv and sketch comedy locally and throughout the nation since 2006. Dubbed "not-to-miss local heroes" by the SF Bay Guardian, they will perform a mix of improv and sketch comedy, in addition to short video pieces. Their festival performance includes old favorites, in addition to new pieces they are developing for a fall show.

Crisis Hopkins produced the Improv Soapbox & Jam, at the Climate Theater, The Temporary Improv Festival (2009), and the San Francisco Improv Festival (2010).

The Super Dupers strive to save the world, one show at a time. They are a fun-filled romp of long form, music and more - with high audience involvement formats. They are bringing their show Do-Wop-Ner, An Improvised Small Claims Musical, which is a fun-filled foray based entirely on an actual audience member's dilemma. Both sides of the case will be sung, the courtroom will weigh the evidence, emotions will run high, and a judgment will be made by the audience.
