Jamaica Plain has no shortage of talented and diverse musicians, composers, and performers.

On August 20, they will have a chance to come together for one incredible day of music. They will be able to hear each other perform and to celebrate the incredible musical nexus that is Jamaica Plain. The festival will feature all genres, all ethnicities, all persuasions, all ages. It's for all of us.

There is a deep pride Jamaica Plain. It manifests in one-of-a kind Mom and Pop stores, restaurants, bars, art galleries, sports leagues, and political, cultural, and historical groups.

The musicians that live in Jamaica Plain have played all over the city and country. Despite the thriving scene that manifests itself in a few local venues and basement shows, there hasn't been an opportunity for these artists to get together locally on a large scale.

The Jamaica Plain Music Festival's goal is to celebrate the diverse and creative sounds of many of our local musicians.

The event is being organized by famed Boston musician and Rick Berlin ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Berlin + http://rickberlin.com ), Randace Moore, Executive Director of JP Centre/South Main Streets ( http://jpcentresouthmainstreets.org/ ), and Shamus Moynihan, Talent Buyer at The Midway Café ( http://midwaycafe.com ), a Boston live music venue hosting local and national acts since 1987. They, and all members of the event planning committee members, are residents of Jamaica Plain.

Keeping the festival free for the public to attend, JP Music Festival’s organizing committee have held a variety of fundraising activities in recent months, including fundraisers at James’s Gate, The Haven, Midway Café, and The Video Underground. To date they have raised more than $10,000.
