The 2nd Annual Boston Local Food Festival,
www.bostonlocalfoodfestival.com will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011 along Fort Point Channel near Boston Children’s Museum and on Children's Wharf Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Themed “Healthy Local Food for All!” this is a zero waste event and Boston's premier food festival connecting eaters with farmers and local food producers.
Produced by Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston (SBN)
www.sbnboston.org, the festival is built upon the principals of creating a local, green and fair economy and promotes the benefits of eating local food and to offer a diversity of locally grown and sourced dishes at affordable prices of $5 or less.
The festival includes a Local Craft Brew Tasting event promoting local beer, wine and mead at The Daily Catch Grotto. There will be three (2-hour) sessions of Tastings between 11am and 6pm.
This year we're expanding and looking to add a Do-It-Yourself Demo tent. This volunteer section is seeking experts in a variety of areas related to food, urban homesteading, living green, environmental sustainability, to share their skills with the 30,000 eaters at the 2011 Boston Local Food Festival. Volunteers will be given a free 30-60 minute slot to share your tips. A Do-It-Yourself Demo schedule will be posted on the Boston Local Food Festival website and advertised on social media sites. Volunteers are required to bring all necessary equipment (power and butane burner will be available on a limited basis). If you know how to make yogurt, ricotta, and kimchi, if you are a square foot gardener, container gardener, vermicomposter, pickling master, forager, pressure cooking ace, home brewer, companion planter, skill sharer or have a root cellar, then we want to know about it!
