Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for a VERY special Beers for Books event with Room to Read founder John Wood on Tuesday, September 13th at the 800 person-capacity Warehouse 702 in Azabu-Juban.

We've not had a regular B4B in Tokyo since the earthquake and this one will be in support of Room to Read's local language publishing program in Sri Lanka as a way of saying "thank you" to the people of Sri Lanka for their kind support following the quake.

John will make a short presentation around 8PM and will share with you some of the latest developments happening with Room to Read around the world. He'll also be doing a book signing of his new children's book "Zak the Yak", which makes a great gift for children of all ages.

For those of you new to Beers for Books, the concept is simple: For every drink you have, 100 yen will be donated to Room to Read and that buys a treasured book for children via Room to Read. We'll also be doing a fun prize raffle with a bunch of great prizes and 100% of ticket sales going to Room to Read.

Room to Read is an amazing NPO whose mission is to provide quality educational opportunities to children in developing countries with the goal of empowering kids via literacy. Room to Read has projects in 9 countries in Asia and Africa including Nepal, Cambodia, Zambia, etc. For more details see www.roomtoread.org or in Japanese www.roomtoread.jp.

There is no cost to attend the event, but we'll have a 1000 yen suggested donation at the door which gets you three raffle tickets for the drawing.

ルーム・トゥ・リードの創設者であるジョン・ウッドが、9月に来日することが決定しました。3月の東日本大震災により4月の来日予定は延期となりましたが、ジョンは「一刻も早く日本に行きたい」と希望しており、今回の来日が実現しました。１年半ぶりに来日するジョン・ウッドと一緒にビールを飲みませんか？

震災以降、ドリンク1杯が本1冊の寄付になるBeers for Booksの開催を控えておりましたが、今回はスリランカの子ども達に、現地語の書籍を贈るために開催します。スリランカは2004年に大きな津波被害にあっており、東北の震災・津波被害に対してもすぐに温かな支援の手を差し伸べてしてくれました。このBeers for Booksはスリランカの人々への感謝の気持ちを込めての開催となります。

当日は、夜8時ごろにジョンからのご挨拶と最新の活動状況のご報告をさせていただきます。また、ジョンの書いた子ども向け童話「ヤクのザック、本を運ぶ」のサイン会も予定しています。

会費はございませんが、皆様の寛大のご寄付として、入場時に豪華賞品のあたるラッフル券（3枚）を1000円でお買い求めください。.
