The night is the Seattle launch party for Vinyl Dreams (www.vinyldreams.us), the new domestic online vinyl-only record store founded by Mike Bee, former Electronic/Dance buyer/section manager at Amoeba Music SF and Darren Davis, former owner of SF's Tweekin' Records.

About Mike Bee
DJ mikebee aka Michelangelo Battaglia has been active in San Francisco's electronic music community since 1994. Raised on a diet of music as a child, Mike studied opera at Carnegie Mellon University before leaving to pursue a life of dance music, inspired by his early-90's adventures in the East Coast rave scene. After moving to SF in the early nineties, Mike started as an atmospheric drum'n'bass DJ before transitioning to 2-Step garage, broken beat, eventually becoming an early champion of dubstep. In recent years he's been into slo-mo, nu-disco, and edits, incorporating these new (old) sounds into his already vast repertoire (and record collection).

In addition to being a DJ, Mikebee has also been a writer for XLR8R, SF Bay Guardian, and URB magazine. He's been dubbed "a true vanguard in the S.F. music community" by the SF Weekly, a position cemented by his long stint as the product buyer and manager of the electronic/dance section. The man knows his records.

With Vinyl Dreams, his new venture with Darren Davis (former owner of Tweekin' Records), Mikebee is aiming to ease the woes of domestic DJs forced to buy vinyl records from overseas. Using his network of contacts, Vinyl Dreams aims to provide the best selection of new tracks, coupled with the benefits of spectacular service and domestic shopping.
