MISTLETONE RECORDS - Wednesday 17th August
...In the spring of 2006 from their humble home in North Fitzroy, Ash Miles and Sophie Best launched Mistletone Records into the world with the release of 'House Arrest" by Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti to coincide with Ariel’s first Australian tour. Their mission (then & now): "to work with music we love, treat people right, and give the musicians we work with total artistic freedom whilst we work in the background to facilitate the proliferation of their music & art out into the world." From those wide-eyed beginnings, Mistletone has grown into a thriving indie label with a catalogue of over 50 titles, including international artists such as Beach House, Animal Collective’s Panda Bear and Avey Tare, Vivian Girls, Toro Y Moi, Bachelorette, Black Dice, The Bats and Lucky Dragons, and a local roster borne out of the amazing musical community of Melbourne, including Kes Band, Beaches, Panel of Judges, HTRK, Ross McLennan and Mark Barrage and new signings The Orbweavers, Wintercoats and Montero.

TENZENMEN - Sunday 21st August
...tenzenmen has long been renowned for championing exciting new and challenging music. Whilst a lot of labels look to Europe and the U.S. for their inspiration and cues, tenzenmen has focused mostly in the Australasia region and tapped rich veins of talent in places least expected. Of course, when it comes to Australia, Melbourne is the go to place and breeding ground of many a great band (perhaps that's why tenzenmen has remained in Sydney where the challenge is more fun!). As part of the Released Series, tenzenmen has selected bands that represent the feeling and emotion invested in the label. All are associated with tenzenmen in some small way or another and it's these associations that build a community and will continue to inspire us all in to the future. We welcome you all to be part of it on this night.

dualpLOVER - Wednesday 24th August
...dualpLOVER is the musical orphanage for those square pegs that have
trouble being placed in round holes. Since our foundation in 1995
slowly, steadily and surely we have released a highly diverse range of
music from Australia and abroad. Everything from avant-pop to folk to
noise to hip-hop to vaudeville to comedy to post punk to parody to
elctronica etc has bared our name. The name in fact is the literal
English translation for the Japanese words for double-ended dildo,
which in essence is what we do here; take it in from all directions!
We are also a distributor of a startling array of musics from all
over, a broker for CD/DVD manufacturing, a promoter of shows and
tours. We pride ourselves in our doing these things differently from
most and cherish all things independent.

SOMEONE GOOD - Wednesday 14th September
...Someone Good is Room40's sister label concerned with all things avant-pop. Tired of the familiar and the paths more commonly trodden, Someone Good seeks out those musicians interested in testing the edges of their given music. Curiously pulsating song forms, floating melodic jams, out of nowhere harmony and other unexpected pleasures litter many of the label’s releases from artists including NikaSaya (featuring the legendary Saya from Tenniscoats), Akira Kosemura, Aus, Qua and the guest of this event Miko. Miko's Chandelier is one of our favourite releases - intricate rhythms made up from the most uncommon sources form the backbone of Miko's folk-tronic sound. She is one of Tokyo's finest songwriters - playing with expectations of melody and form - truly unique and uncompromising.

YES PLEASE RECORDS - Wednesday 21st September
...Yes Please is the new kid on the block, rolling onto the scene earlier this year. Born from the desire to do something different and probably too much time spent trawling the blogs, it's a label with plenty of heart and soul. With a focus lying somewhere between pop and electronic music, we hope to push the boundaries and bring you foreign sounds from familiar places. The Yes Please family consists of Albatross, Guerre, Tank and The Townhouses, with plenty more to come.
