Please join us for the 1st Austin Barrio Writers Live Reading Festival!
Barrio Writers aims to empower teens through creative writing, higher education & cultural arts. The free 10-week summer program culminates with a live reading for the community.
Join us in celebrating the lives of six new teen writers, they will be sharing their bios and reading their new works that include poetry, life rants, narratives & spoken word.
The event will be hosted by local author Sarah Rafael Garcia, who founded Barrio Writers in 2009 & is the author of Las Niñas, A Collection of Childhood Memories (2008).
The live reading will also include live music, community collaboration & empowering words! Snacks & beverages will be provided.
Please feel free to invite other youth to attend, along with your friends, family & community members! Let's unite to empower our youth!
