Mighty Men of Valour - Parenting in Crisis meeting for all concerned parents in Croydon
Mighty Men of Valour in conjunction with Croydon Voluntary Action and other local groups will be holding a “Parenting in crisis?” meeting at CVA Resource Centre on Wednesday 24th August 2011 at 7.00pm (doors open 6.30pm) to obtain parents feedback from concerned parents about the reason for the riots and looting in Croydon and how parents can be empowered to help prevent this from happening again.
Address: Mighty Men of Valour, 82 London Road, Croydon, Surrey, CR9 0XJ
Time: 7.00pm (doors open 6.30pm)
I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend last week at the CVA to discuss “Parenting in Crisis?” Mighty Men of Valour were interviewed on BBC London, Radio Live 5 and we also met Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, all on the same day.
Our event last week as was excellent. Parents were able to share their views and we came to a few outcomes, which we will share in due course, as a way forward. I would like to thank everyone who attended especially Folake Segun from Croydon Voluntary Action who helped facilitate the event and made it a success.
We will be having our second and final session of this conference “Parenting in Crisis?” where we will be focusing on the relationships that our children have in Schools. Are our schools also failing our children with regards to the “Every Child Matters” policy i.e. are our youth of today able to: Be healthy - Stay safe - Enjoy and achieve - Make a positive contribution - Achieve economic well–being? And if they are failing, can we as parents sue the government for this failure?
Also, how are parent’s and their children’s relationship with the police? Do they have a relationship with the police? Is it good or is it bad? Can parents or our children trust the police and who should they turn to if they require law enforcement? Should parents or our children take the law into their own hands....?
“Parenting in Crisis?” Next Wednesday 24th August, same time, same place. Kind Regards, Frederick
