To make this season opener extra special, Porchlight has teamed up with the SF Maritime National Park Association and the National Park Service. This special event is to be held at the sexy, sensational, and storied SF Maritime Museum.
The show will take place on the Lido Deck (3rd flr) of the world-renowned art deco, WPA, San Francisco cruise-ship inspired building; overlooking Aquatic Park. Our performance room has views of both bridges, the historic landmark vessels at Hyde Street Pier, and Alcatraz. Its elegant wrap-around bridge wing balconies enable one to take in the sea air.
As the sun sets, our 10th season will open with a series of stories of travel gone awry. The sights, sounds and smells of the working waterfront will engulf you as this “edge of your seat” show begins. A sensory spectacular!

Porchlight regular Anthony Bedard books music at the historic Hemlock Tavern and plays guitar with the panic rock quartet Hank IV. He is a newlywed.
A third generation fisherman, Captain Frank Frescino of the Lovely Martha (lovelymartha.com) is one of the finest wooden boats on the West Coast. His family has held the same berth at Fisherman’s Wharf since 1908. Frescino is active in the city. He serves on the board of governors of the Fisherman’s Wharf Merchants Association, the board of directors for the wharf’s community benefits district, and the Seaman’s memorial chapel. He’s executive chairperson of the annual SF parade of lights. His son Michael is a fourth generation fisherman. Check out Lovely Martha Sport fishing on Facebook.
Brett Gladstone is the great-great grandson of Isador and Ida Straus. They owned and built Macy’s Department Store on 34th Street in Manhattan and met a tragic death when they both drowned on the Titanic. Gladstone has been a real estate attorney in San Francisco for 28 years, where he lives today. He is on the Board of the San Francisco Museum at the Mint, the Uptown Tenderloin Museum, an active member in SPUR and the Housing Action Coalition, and a former Board Member of Friends of the Urban Forest. When not seen at those venues, you can often find Brett on local squash courts. Brett is a 1980 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Harvard College.
Jennifer Longo is a former inland dwelling grave salesperson who now lives beside The Sea where she writes and bakes thousands of cupcakes for her kid's third grade class. She holds an MFA in playwriting from Humboldt State University. Her first novel, At Need, is on sub with editors and will be on your bookshelf any moment now.
Lorraine Palmer lives on a boat. She has sailed around the world. On weekends when not racing yachts, Lorraine works with Sea Scavenger Conservancy to clean up garbage on beaches. She is also an avid goat fan.
Alice Watts has been working in the maritime industry, mostly at Hyde Street Pier, for the past 28 years. She began as a volunteer after her son's fourth grade class overnight aboard the C.A.THAYER, and seven years later was hired as a staff member on the (same) education program that started her career. She is still an active volunteer for the National Park Service aboard the historic ships. Alice is the First Mate of the 1891 Scow Schooner ALMA. Other centers of her attention include her family, motorcycle riding, sailing on other Tall Ships along the California coast, and camping.
