Swede Fest is the only film festival in world dedicated to sweded films. It was dreamed up as a creative way to engage our Fresno community in the arts, but we receive submissions from as far as England and Spain! A swede is a summarized recreation of a popular movie, starring you! The term comes from the 2008 film "Be Kind Rewind" written & directed by Michel Gondry, but it's really just another name for "parody"!
Swede Fest returns for its eighth installment on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at Full Circle Brewing Company in downtown Fresno. Admission is still FREE and open to all ages.
So now that we have a date, we need YOUR creative juices to start flowing. If you’re looking for some inspiration, you can check out all our past entries at
http://SwedeFest.com. Gather up your friends, families, and pets, make a list of your favorite movies, bust out your camera (even your cell phone), and get your swede on! It’s a fun experience and there’s nothing like seeing your sweded film on the big screen in front of an audience! As Michel Gondry once said, ”You’ll like this film because you’re in it!”
The deadline to submit your sweded film is Tuesday, November 1 at 11:59 p.m.
