*Cologne, July 26th 2011 – True technological innovation, creativity, risk disposition and delight of entrepreneurship instead of MBA-bearing and copycats. Everyone who can identify himself with these prerequisites should apply for the Pirate Summit, an exclusive networking-event in the European start-up community.*
It was October 2010 when TechCrunch-founder Michael Arrington posted „Are you a pirate?“ on his blog. In this post he defined the required talents an extraordinary founder should possess. Four motivated students and four successful founders/VCs have compiled an event, which combines Arrington’s analogy with their own visions of entrepreneurship and therefore creating practical value for participants that no other event can deliver.
On Tuesday, September 20th, 200 hand-picked “pirates” will be given the opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions with other visionaries and risk-takers to define new standards for entrepreneurship.
Content of the workshops/panels/keynotes are: Coding, design, usability, business development, product, funding und ad-hoc topics. Already confirmed speakers are Web-personas like Lars Hinrichs (XING), Stefan Glaenzer (last.fm), Alexandru Lapusan (Zitec), Christian Busch (Sandbox Network), Thomas Madsen-Mygdal (serial entrepreneur) as well as Jan Henric Buettner, who commands one of the world’s biggest VC-Fund.
We work together with partners like the Sandbox Network (Global), HowToWeb (Romania), blackbox.vc (Silicon Valley), Netocratic.com (Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia), netzwertig.com (Germany) and TechCrunch, including Mike Butcher as a moderator.
"The Pirate Summit shall bring together the most interesting personalities of the European entrepreneur-community, meaning ambitioned start-ups and investors“, says organizer Till Ohrmann, who himself has founded alongside his studies. “Such an Event has been missing apart of Idealab, EBSpreneurship etc., and gets the necessary international community to Germany”, says co-organizer Stefan Menden. The focus is, besides workshops, keynotes and pitches, set on the entrepreneur community of Eastern Europe, which has been underappreciated up to now.
Location: The wicked and legendary “Odonien”. Hornstr.85, 50823 Cologne - Germany
