The Unity Council and State Farm are proud to present the 16th Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The festival will be held between 33rd Ave. and 37th Ave. on East 12th St., as well as in the Fruitvale Village.
A "local legacy," having been inducted into the U.S. Library of Congress by Congresswoman Barbara Lee, the Oakland Dia de los Muertos Festival is a celebration of not only the traditional holiday, but also of the vibrant Fruitvale community and Latino culture throughout the Bay Area and beyond. The festival is an exciting showcase of traditional Dia de los Muertos altars made by local artists and community organizations as well as food, music, and dance.
