Let me just say that it's a bad idea to Corbett with the intent of seeing a tiger. Corbett is less about the tiger and more about the 585 bird species that it is home to. Let me just say that it's a bad idea to Corbett with the intent of seeing a tiger. Corbett is less about the tiger and more about the 585 bird species that it is home to. It's about the elephants, the crocodiles, the short tempered elephant herds, the rare martens, mountain goats, hog deer and inimitable grasslands. It's the real deal when it comes to forests!
It is quite difficult to arrange accommodation at Corbett though. It's pointless staying at any of the outside resorts, because you just don't get to enjoy the forest to the fullest. The best stay is to be had at Dhikala FRH, 49 km from the gate, close to the core of the forest. Despite the recent decline of its grasslands, Dhikala is the only place for wildlife enthusiasts to stay given the circus that can ensue at any of the other zones.
If you want to come for this trip, confirm your bookings as soon as possible. People put in their applications often a year in advance and they still don't get their bookings at Dhikala. I'm gunning for a 3 night stay at the FRH, which will get us 6 safaris in the heart of the forest. We could even swap some of these with elephant safaris that'll take us to spots that the jeeps can't reach. Imagine the fun!
Again, confirm your participation soon for this one. It's crucial that we book very very early.
